## What do you need when mobilising a new construction site?

Seven headings: site office and container fit-out, power and lighting, health and safety (PPE, first aid, fire), hygiene and cleaning, site security and signage, hand tools and hardware, opening consumables stock. The decisive part is **sequence**: temporary power and HSE equipment must be on site **before** production equipment — otherwise the crew cannot start work.

The contract is signed, the site handed over — and the clock is running. The longer mobilisation takes, the later crews reach production. The failure pattern is familiar: the container arrived but there’s nothing to sit on; the crew arrived but helmets are short; the generator runs but extension leads were forgotten. This guide collects **everything the first two weeks need** into one checklist.

## 1. Site office and welfare

- Office container fit-out: desks, chairs, filing cabinet, whiteboard/pinboard, bins
- Stationery kit: A4 paper, printer and toner, files, log and issue books, pens, stapler and punch
- Drawing and paperwork order: layout-plan rail, signature folders, visitor book
- Mess/rest area: tables and benches, water dispenser and bottle routine, tea station, fridge

## 2. Statutory safety — day one, non-negotiable

- Basic set per person: helmet, hi-vis vest, S3 boots, work gloves, safety glasses — **with spares** (15-20% extra for visitors and new starters)
- Task-specific additions: harnesses and lanyards for work at height, FFP respirators, hearing protection, welder’s kit
- First-aid cabinet and stretcher; fire extinguishers (dry powder + CO₂) with station signage
- Warning and mandatory sign sets, tape and barriers, site entry rules board

Set up the issue-record routine on day one — unrecorded handouts mean re-buying in week two. (See our [PPE replacement intervals guide](https://aksco.com.tr/en/insights/ppe-replacement-intervals/) for renewal cycles.)

## 3. Temporary power and lighting

- Temporary distribution board and earthing, RCD protection
- Site extension cables (H07RN-F), cable reels, industrial plug-socket sets
- LED floodlights and tripods, container lighting, sensor security lights
- Generator fuel cans, funnel, spare oil; torches and headlamps

## 4. Water, hygiene and waste

- Portable toilets and handwash units, stocked paper-towel-soap supply
- Drinking water routine; shade and water stations in summer
- Waste containers, segregation (domestic/hazardous), rubble sacks, cleaning kits

## 5. Hand tools and general consumables

- Basic hand-tool sets: hammers, crowbar, handsaw, utility knives, tapes-levels-lines, packing tape
- Power-tool starter set: combi/breaker drill, angle grinder, driver; spare bits and discs
- Consumables pool: screws and anchors, silicone and foam, marking spray paint, wire, nails
- Moving: wheelbarrow, lifting slings, tow rope

## 6. Security and perimeter

- Perimeter: panel fencing, tarpaulins, locks and chains
- Traffic order: cones, reflective tape, warning lamps
- Locked container/cage store for valuable materials; interim alarm before cameras arrive

## 7. Storage and stacking

- Racking, pallets and chocks, stack separators
- Labelling and stock-card routine; marked receiving area
- Weather protection: tarpaulin, sheeting, moisture absorbers

## Timing: from T-14 to first dig

1. **T-14 days:** freeze the list, request one consolidated quote (below), book container and toilet rentals.
2. **T-7:** safety sets and office fit-out on site; issue records and stock cards running.
3. **T-3:** power, lighting and perimeter tested; the snag list closed in one pass.
4. **T-0:** crews in — PPE issued, records signed, production starts.

## One list, one delivery

The purchasing trap in mobilisation is splitting the list across 5-6 vendors — hardware shop, stationer, PPE dealer, electrical wholesaler... each its own order, delivery and invoice, precisely when time is scarcest. AKSCO lands this entire list ([safety](https://aksco.com.tr/en/products/safety-ppe/), [hardware](https://aksco.com.tr/en/products/tools-hardware/), [electrical](https://aksco.com.tr/en/products/electrical-lighting/), [stationery](https://aksco.com.tr/en/products/office-supplies/), [building materials](https://aksco.com.tr/en/products/paint-building-materials/)) on one quote with planned deliveries — see how we work with [construction sites](https://aksco.com.tr/en/industries/construction-sites/). [Send your mobilisation list here](https://aksco.com.tr/en/request-a-quote/) — Excel, a photo or a handwritten note — all fine.

What has to be on site, and when

| Order | Heading | Why it comes here | Typical lead time |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | Temporary power and lighting | No work starts without energy | 3–7 days |
| 2 | HSE equipment (PPE, first aid, fire) | The crew cannot enter site without it | 3–5 days |
| 3 | Site security and signage | Perimeter safety, and a legal requirement | 3–5 days |
| 4 | Site office and container fit-out | The coordination centre | 1–2 weeks |
| 5 | Hygiene and cleaning setup | Becomes mandatory as headcount rises | 3–5 days |
| 6 | Hand tools, hardware, opening consumables stock | Needed the moment work begins | 1 week |

The order is the point, not the list. Lead times overlap, so the sequence is about what blocks what: rows 1 and 2 gate everything after them.

## Frequently Asked Questions

Does this list fit every site type?

The backbone is common; scale and work type shift the emphasis. Building work leans on height-safety gear, infrastructure on traffic safety, interior refurbishment on dust control and protective sheeting.

How do we estimate the mobilisation budget?

Price this checklist line by line — lump-sum “setup budgets” either bloat or burst on most projects. A written consolidated quote doubles as your budget document.

Rent or buy?

For big-ticket items — containers, portable toilets, generators — project duration decides: rent under ~6 months, buy on long projects. Consumables and PPE are purchases in every case.

Do deliveries reach the site itself?

Yes; the delivery plan is fixed at quote stage. If site access is constrained (crane hours, traffic permits), just note the delivery windows on your list.

What is the most common mobilisation mistake?

Ordering production equipment before temporary power and HSE equipment are on site. The equipment then sits in its crates because the crew is not allowed on site yet, or there is nothing to run it from. Sequence beats speed here: rows 1 and 2 of the table above gate everything that follows, so they are ordered first even when the rest of the list is still being priced.

How long does mobilisation take end to end?

Individual lead times run from three days to two weeks, but they overlap, so a typical site reaches working condition in roughly two to three weeks from the first order. The long pole is usually the site office and container fit-out; everything else can be compressed if it is ordered in parallel rather than in sequence.

## Send your needs list — your quote is ready within 1 business day.

Quotes are free of charge and carry no purchase obligation. Requests received during business hours (Mon–Fri, 09:00–18:00 Türkiye time, UTC+3) are processed the same day; those arriving outside them go to the front of the queue the next business morning.
