Construction Site Mobilization Checklist: The Complete Starter List

The contract is signed, the site handed over — and the clock is running. The longer mobilization takes, the later crews reach production. The failure pattern is familiar: the container arrived but there's nothing to sit on; the crew arrived but helmets are short; the generator runs but extension leads were forgotten. This guide collects everything the first two weeks need into one checklist.

1. Site office and welfare

• Office container fit-out: desks, chairs, filing cabinet, whiteboard/pinboard, bins
• Stationery kit: A4 paper, printer and toner, files, log and issue books, pens, stapler and punch
• Drawing and paperwork order: layout-plan rail, signature folders, visitor book
• Mess/rest area: tables and benches, water dispenser and bottle routine, tea station, fridge

2. Statutory safety — day one, non-negotiable

• Basic set per person: helmet, hi-vis vest, S3 boots, work gloves, safety glasses — with spares (15-20% extra for visitors and new starters)
• Task-specific additions: harnesses and lanyards for work at height, FFP respirators, hearing protection, welder's kit
• First-aid cabinet and stretcher; fire extinguishers (dry powder + CO₂) with station signage
• Warning and mandatory sign sets, tape and barriers, site entry rules board

3. Temporary power and lighting

• Temporary distribution board and earthing, RCD protection
• Site extension cables (H07RN-F), cable reels, industrial plug-socket sets
• LED floodlights and tripods, container lighting, sensor security lights
• Generator fuel cans, funnel, spare oil; torches and headlamps

4. Water, hygiene and waste

• Portable toilets and handwash units, stocked paper-towel-soap supply
• Drinking water routine; shade and water stations in summer
• Waste containers, segregation (domestic/hazardous), rubble sacks, cleaning kits

5. Hand tools and general consumables

• Basic hand-tool sets: hammers, crowbar, handsaw, utility knives, tapes-levels-lines, packing tape
• Power-tool starter set: combi/breaker drill, angle grinder, driver; spare bits and discs
• Consumables pool: screws and anchors, silicone and foam, marking spray paint, wire, nails
• Moving: wheelbarrow, lifting slings, tow rope

6. Security and perimeter

• Perimeter: panel fencing, tarpaulins, locks and chains
• Traffic order: cones, reflective tape, warning lamps
• Locked container/cage store for valuable materials; interim alarm before cameras arrive

7. Storage and stacking

• Racking, pallets and chocks, stack separators
• Labelling and stock-card routine; marked receiving area
• Weather protection: tarpaulin, sheeting, moisture absorbers

Timing: from T-14 to first dig

1. T-14 days: freeze the list, request one consolidated quote (below), book container and toilet rentals.
2. T-7: safety sets and office fit-out on site; issue records and stock cards running.
3. T-3: power, lighting and perimeter tested; the snag list closed in one pass.
4. T-0: crews in — PPE issued, records signed, production starts.
